Donald Dean Doocy was born November 6th, 1940, in Estherville, son of Nicholas and Anna Marie (Lampe) Doocy. Don grew up between Seneca and Bancroft and attended St. John's Catholic School in Bancroft. Don was married to Deanna Ditsworth and together they had five children.
Don started off his career as a mechanic at Kemna Chevrolet in Bancroft. From that point he was a mechanical foreman with Everds Brothers for numerous years. Don moved back to Lone Rock in 1986 and then in 1999 he was forced into early retirement due to an accident while working for PCI. During the winter months Don worked with his brothers and father at Doocy Repair in Lone Rock.
Family was very important to him, he loved being surrounded by his children, grandchildren and especially his great-grandchildren. He had a special passion for racing as not only racer but also a mechanic for his son, Doug. Don was inducted into the Kossuth County Racing Hall of Fame in 2010.
Don became a resident of Accura Assisted Living in 2019. He died Tuesday, May 4th, 2021 at Accura Healthcare in Bancroft at the age of 80.
Don is survived by five children, Debi (Darren) Bolles of Acworth, GA, Douglas (Barbara) Doocy of Lone Rock, Donna (Jeff) Rahe of Bancroft, Denise (Keith) Vaske of Algona, and Dennis Doocy of Lone Rock; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Adam (Jennifer) Foertsch and their children Tate and Asher, Theresia (fiancé Terrell Murphy) Adams, Nicole Doocy, Erica (Jay) Johnson and their children Kaylee and Elaina, Kelsey (James) Cottrell and their son Arlo, Austin (fiancé Katrina Schremp) Vaske, Olivia Vaske, and Dakota Doocy. He is also survived by two brothers, Arden Doocy of Lone Rock, and David (Mary) Doocy of Bancroft; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Doocy of Webster City; a brother-in-law, Randy Vogt of Oakdale, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John, Larry, and Richard; and two sisters, Linda Vogt and Yvonne Talano.
