Margaret "Maggie" Johanna Faber was born November 24, 1938, in North Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Marie (Papenheim) Elenz. She grew up on a farm near North Washington, IA where she attended the nearby Alta Vista school. At the age of 16 she moved to the St. Joe, IA area to live with relatives. She helped them in their home as a caregiver for their young children, and later helped other families in the area as well. Maggie also worked at Van's Café and Snap-On Tools in her young adult years.
On July 14, 1960, Maggie was united in marriage to Florian Faber at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe. They lived and farmed near St. Joe, IA raising two children there.
Maggie enjoyed working on the farm as well as fishing, camping, boating and playing cards. She enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas to visit family and do some gambling at the casinos.
Maggie died Sunday, April 18, 2021, at the Algona Manor Care Center in Algona, Iowa. She was 82.
She is survived by her son, Todd Faber of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Amy Faber of Fort Worth, Texas; granddaughter, Khiara Faber; siblings, Rita Cummings of Waterloo, IA; Tillie Havlik of Elma, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Florian on March 29, 2002; siblings, Mary Ann (Elenz)Webb, Leo Elenz, Theresa (Elenz) Stremcha, Barbara (Elenz) Bormann, John Elenz, Larry Elenz, Rosie (Elenz) Merick, Katie (Elenz) Schmit, Mike Elenz, Alice (Elenz) Kintzle; brother and sisters-in-law, Herman, Joseph and Raphael Faber, Arlene and Mary (Faber) Salz.
