Clinton Bert Godden was born January 16, 1936, in Lone Rock, Iowa, the son of Bert and Vivian (Beitz) Godden. He grew up in Burt, IA, and moved to Warsaw, MO for his high school years where he really enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1954. Following graduation, he moved to Algona, Iowa, to take a job at Universal Manufacturing, where he worked until he retired in 1998.
While at the Jolly Time Skating Rink in Algona, Clint met the love of his life, Helen Kuhlmann. They were united in marriage on August 25, 1957, at the First United Methodist Church in Algona. Together they had four children: Donna, Rob, Lisa, and Julie. They raised their family in Algona.
Clint enjoyed golfing, square dancing, playing cards, bowling, and doing anything sporting-related. In later years Clint and Helen enjoyed vacationing in Harlingen, Texas, where they went for eight years, before buying a home there. After Clint's retirement, they built a new home on Lake Tetonka near Waterville, MN, where they would spend the summer months and spend the winter months in Harlingen, TX. Clint and Helen took many trips & several cruises and visited all the continents except Antarctica.
Clint died Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Valley Baptist Medical Center, Harlingen, Texas. He was 85.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen of Waterville, MN; children, Donna (Mel) Godden Alloway of Muscatine, IA, Rob (Judee) Godden of Garner, IA, Lisa (Jim) Weydert of Elko, MN, and Julie (Steve) Dahl of Burnsville, MN; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jacob) Dahlmoore, Jennifer (Chad) Noble, Jon (Jennifer) Godden, Mark (Kati) Godden, Keith (Meredith) Radig, Abby Dahl, and CJ Weydert; 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, sister-in-law, Dianne Fish of Algona and Faye Kuhlmann of Algona, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death, his parents, siblings, Doris Foist, Marie Thede, and Harvey Godden.
