Obituary
James Henry "Jim" Fickbohm was born September 13, 1950, in Algona to Maurice and Theresa (Origer) Fickbohm. He grew up in Whittemore and attended Bishop Garrigan Catholic School where he met the love of his life at age 13. Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years. He was united in marriage to Judy Ferstl on June 23, 1973. They lived all of their married life in Algona and were lifetime members of St. Cecelia's Catholic Church. Jim was dedicated to his family, his wife's family and their three children, Laurie, Justin, and Macy.
An avid sports fan, he loved Bishop Garrigan athletics and rooting for the Hawkeyes, Twins, and Vikings. Jim had a passion for farming that lasted 48 years. He enjoyed "games of chance" and traveling with his family.
James H. Fickbohm passed away Monday, January 18, 2021, at the age of 70.
Jim will be missed by his loving wife Judy, daughters, Laurie (Shane) Arp of Ankeny, and Macy (Chase) Dieleman of Ankeny, a son Justin Fickbohm of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Layla, Tyson, Hadley, and Sawyer Arp; and baby Dieleman due in July. He is also survived by his sisters, Pat Schilmoeller, Mary Ann (Jim) Campney, Nancy (Gary) Emmert and Karen (Ben) Winrich; his brothers Maurice (Ann) Fickbohm, Donald (Becky) Fickbohm, David (Jan) Fickbohm; as well as a brother-in-law Mark Ferstl, sister-in-law Nancy (Doug) Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jeanne and Janice; and his parents-in-law, Louis and Evelyn Ferstl.
