Obituary
Gladys G. (Zeimet) Thill was born March 4, 1933, in St. Joe, Iowa, the daughter of Henry W. and Lona (Illg) Zeimet. She grew up in Bancroft and graduated from St. John's Catholic High School in 1951.
On September 23, 1952, Gladys was united in marriage to Orville Thill at St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft. Together they farmed near Irvington. Gladys worked as a nanny before working part-time at Algona Publishing, where she worked for 40 years.
Gladys loved spending time with her family and going to her grandchildren's events. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing, playing cards, and bird watching. She also enjoyed volunteering at the church rectory, going to Adoration, traveling, and being on the farm. Gladys was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, St. Cecelia Guild, and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Gladys died December 16, 2020, at the Algona Manor. She was 87.
She is survived by her children, Ron Thill of Algona; Richard (Sharon) Thill of Urbandale; Craig (Jackie) Thill of Superior, CO; Deb Schindler of Algona, Diane (Ross) Balling of Michigan City, IN; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sisters, Josie (Sam) Weatherly of Algona and Marge (Rollie) Kinseth of Belmond; sister-in-law, Edna Zeimet of Algona; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lona Zeimet; husband, Orville; son, Joseph; daughters-in-law, Julie Thill, Paula Thill; son-in-law, Steve Schindler; five brothers, Ernest, Eugene, Julius, Art, and Leo Zeimet; sisters, Gertie (George) Diers and Elsie (Bernard) Kunkel; and brothers-in-law, James Kunkel, and Jerry Wilhite.
