James "Jim" William Goche was born July 2, 1938, on the family farm outside of Bancroft, son of Edward and Julia (Quinn) Goche. He grew up in Bancroft, graduating from St. John's Catholic High School in 1957. Jim married Carol Rustemier on August 13, 1960, at St. John's Catholic Church.
Jim and Carol raised their family and farmed north of Bancroft. They moved into town in 1989. Jim farmed from 1958 until he retired in 2013. He loved farming and feeding cattle, enjoyed golfing, taking trips out West, wintering in Arizona, and there was nothing more important to Jim than spending time with his family especially his cherished grandchildren and great-children. Jim was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and St. John's Catholic Church.
Jim died Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Accura Healthcare in Bancroft. He was 82.
He is survived by his seven children, Maureen (Chuck) Ingalls of Bancroft; Phil Goche (Julie Laubenthal) of Bancroft, Bob (Andrea) Goche of Algona, Mary Pat (Zac) Ludwig of Wesley, Clint Goche (Marti Habeger) of Bancroft, Jay (Sharon) Goche of Burt, and Molly (Dan) Preuschl of Algona; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Mary Helen Kramer, Charlene (Maurice) Elsbecker, Jan (DeWayne) Hatten, and Tom (Judy) Goche, all of Bancroft; sister-in-law, Catherine Rustemier of Satellite Beach, FL, and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Carol, his parents Ed and Julia Goche, his parents-in-law, William and Frances Rustemier; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Tom (Averil) Rustemier, Bill Rustemier, Patricia (George) D'Orazio, and Joe Kramer; two nieces and, two nephews.
