Obituary
Kevin Michael Bode was born on August 15, 1969, in Algona, the son of Marvin and Patricia (Dorweiler) Bode. He grew up in Algona, graduating from Algona High School in 1989. Kevin worked for Exceptional Industry, Hood's Super Value, and Maggie B's in Algona and Opportunity Village in Clear Lake.
Kevin loved sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Raiders. He collected baseball caps and shoes. Kevin enjoyed going to movies, shopping, drawing, and coloring. He always enjoyed visiting with others, drinking Mountain Dew, and animals. Kevin always had a smile on his face. He will be missed for his heart of gold.
Kevin was a Special Olympics participant throughout his school years. The events he competed in were: Bowling, 50 M. Dash, 200 M. Dash, Standing Long Jump, and Softball throw. He earned many medals and ribbons.
Kevin received a Community Betterment Award in 1989 for his work on the River Bottom cleanup crew. The crew cleaned up the Des Moines River between the Hwy 169 and Hwy 18 bridges that summer.
Kevin died Monday, November 16, 2020, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, Mason City. He was 51.
He is survived by his mother, Pat Bode of Algona, four brothers, Greg (Denise) Bode of Greenfield, OH, Randy Bode of Clarinda, James (Alofa) Bode of Murrieta, CA, and Neil (Krys) of West Des Moines; a sister, Lynne (Rick) McKenna of Humboldt; 14 nieces and nephews; 6 great-nieces and great-nephews; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Kevin was preceded his death by his father, Marvin Bode in 1992; his brother, Brian Bode in 2013; sister, Carol Grage in 2018; nephew, Tanner Joe Monahan-Bode; grandparents; uncles, Ray Dorweiler, Jerry Bode, Joel Bode, and Roger Bode; and aunt, Linda Bode.
