Mary Elizabeth (Schick) Cink was born August 10, 1928 in Algona, daughter of Henry and Sylvia (Metzger) Schick. She grew up in Algona, graduating from St. Cecelia Academy in 1945.
On June 20, 1945, Mary was united in marriage to Louis Cink at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. After their marriage they lived in Wesley where they raised their family. Mary and Louis enjoyed wintering in Texas, taking bus trips to the casino, and dancing.
Mary, who always had a smile on her face, was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, and music. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Their sporting events were her number one priority. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic church, helping with the St. Joseph Guild.
In July of 2012, Mary and Louis moved into Huskamp Haven Assisted Living in Algona. She later became a resident of the Algona Manor Care Center, where she died on February 12, 2020. She was 91.
She is survived by her four children, Sylvia (Larry) Hildman of Wesley; Gretchen (Barry) McGahuey of Wesley, Marla (Stephen) Wingert of Wesley, and Steve (Ronda) Cink of Albia; nine grandchildren, Jeremy (Helen) Abrams of Fort Dix, NJ, Josh (Julianna) Abrams of Cedar Rapids, Ian (Angelina) McGahuey of 29 Palms, CA, Megan (Tommy) Parker of Chapel Hill, NC, Travis Wingert of Wesley, Torrey (Brandi) Wingert of Dakota Dunes, SD, Rachel (David) Kimball of Blaine, MN, and Libby (P.J.) Vaske of Dakota Dunes, SD, Olivia Hathcock of Albia; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Louis; niece, Paula Eisenbarth; sister, LaVonne (Henry) Eisenbarth; and brother, Richard Schick.
