A memorial service will be held in conjunction with his family reunion on July 25, 2020, on the family farm in Laurens.
John Frederick Snow was born on December 13, 1942 on the family farm in Laurens. The son of Robert and LuElla (Hodgell) Snow. He attended High School in Ware, and then became a master electrician. At the age of 18, he joined the Air Force and was honorably discharged in April of 1960.
He was united in marriage to Erma Jean Hopkins. They lived in Rolf and were blessed with two children.
John worked in Missouri as an electrician and later moved to Alaska; working on the Tran Atlantic Pipeline and in Prudoe Bay.
He enjoyed trapshooting, fishing, coloring, watching cartoons, and volunteering at Moose Lodge in Alaska, and Spencer, Iowa. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow.
John died on November 3, 2019 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was 76.
John is survived by his daughter, Tamela (Snow-Wagner) Kuehnast of Humboldt; two grandchildren, Jacque Myhre and Trent Wagner; three step-grandchildren, Rachel Kuehnast, Kirsten Kuehnast, and Nathan Kuehnast; great-grandchildren, Dallas, Foster, Chelsea, Emma, and Karsyn; siblings, Joann Shimon of Laurens, Leda Phillips of Farmersville, TX, Laurel (Terry) Christensen of Trimont, MN, Debra Wilson of Laurens, IA, Dana (Sandra) Snow of Marathon, Gayle Jordan of Little Rock, AR, Wayne (Mary) Snow of Laurens; sister-in-law, Mary Snow; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and LuElla Snow; his two brothers Robert and Gaylen Snow; sister, Roberta Richtsmeier; and son, Troy Allen Snow in 2010.
