After her marriage to Gerald Rochleau on February 11, 1947, in Algona IA., Betty became a devoted farm wife. Betty lived on the same farm outside of Algona, for her entire married life, and continued to live on the farm until she became ill in 2017.
Betty became a widow in 1990, she continued to actively farm until her passing. Betty always kept track of the markets, faithfully read Iowa Farmer Today, worried about the weather and checked her crops while driving her red and white pickup.
Sharing her time, talents and treasures were her passion. She volunteered weekly at the Kossuth County Food Pantry and always eager to be a substitute. While volunteering at the Good Samaritan Society, she was named Volunteer of the Year, served on the Care Review Team and was a snack cart volunteer. She volunteered until she became a resident in 2017.
Faith was very important to Betty. She was an active member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church. She enjoyed helping with funeral and parish dinners. She was also a member of the CDA Court #283 and spent many hours in the Perpetual Adoration Chapel.
Betty was a second mother to all her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was always a great support to all of her siblings. She was known as "Aunt Betty" to many members of the community.
Betty is survived by her sister Elise (Clarence) Casey, and sister-in-law's, Doris (Merrill) Mueller and Doris (Marvin) Rochleau along with many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers, Lewis, John Jr., Dennis and Earl, and 2 sisters Juanita and Patricia.
With a dash of holy water and a quick prayer Aunt Betty is on her way. From the beginning I can't recall an event she missed. At our wedding in Cedar Rapids aunt Betty and uncle Gerald presented the gifts. As our family grew, there's aunt Betty - baptisms, conformations and graduations for Max, Valerie and Dylan. Her selfless sacrifice demonstrated her love for so many. I'll miss her wink and smile - as she looks for a little "sugar" and a hug beyond measure. She shows us the way ! Roger and Laura Eller
Rest in peace dear neighbor.
Betty was one of the sweetest women I met through Catholic Daughters! She always had a smile and was so willing to help. Rest In Peace Dear Betty!
Such a sweet and caring lady. When Jim and I were working at the shop she would drop in just to chat. She had a heart of gold and will be missed by many. Jim & Janice Schumacher
During my years of watching Collin, Drew, and Eli Casey, I had the privilege of meeting their Great Aunt Betty. She was a real gem!! I always enjoyed visiting with her. It was very evident that the Casey family loved and adored her. She will be missed by many!!! Sending deepest sympathy to her family and friends.
We know that Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was so generous in so many ways, especially with her time. We always looked forward to seeing her when we came up to see Mom and she would come to visit and catch us up on what the family was doing. Sande & Bob Rooney
So very sorry for your loss lots of prayers and hugs on there way.
We all loved Cousin Betty, my father Ken Medin's first cousin, and admired her for her unsurpassed strength, generosity and good humor. She took my mother Paula Medin to the grocery store every week without fail after my father died, but most of she offered her friendship and love, the most previous give of all. Rest in peace with Gerald, Rosemary Moeykens
