Gertrude Evelyn Richter was born October 2, 1913, in LuVerne, Iowa, the daughter of George and Ann (Stauffacher) Attig. At a young age they moved to the Titonka area where she attended rural school in a one room schoolhouse.
On January 18th, 1940, Gertrude was united in marriage to Leo Richter at the Methodist Parsonage in Britt, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with one daughter, Beverly Jane Richter. entire married lives. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother.
Gertrude worked as a waitress for 33 years at the Kountry Kitchen in Titonka. When asked the secret to a long life, Gertrude would always say "good clean living and hard work."
She enjoyed working in her garden, baking, doing embroidery and keeping her house clean. Her biggest joy was spending time with friends and family. She and Leo loved to travel to visit Beverly, Jim and grandsons, Marc and Steve. They went on many adventures together. Later in life, she got to enjoy her great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Beau. Gertrude was a kind soul with a big heart.
