Irma loved being with family especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, and embroidery work. She was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church serving as a ladies guild officer, a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge, and TOPS.
At the age of 80, Irma moved into Maple Park Apartments where she made many special friends. In September, 2003, she moved to Good Samaritan Communities where she died Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at the age of 95.
She is survived by four children, Joyce Woods and her husband Walter of Burt, Marilyn Moore and her husband Merle of Algona, Barbara Metzger and her husband Clarence of Algona, and Ronald Barton and his wife Janice of Bella Vista, AR; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Delores "Tootie" King of Coupeville, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
Irma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harry on July 31, 1971; five sisters, Sister Mary Hermengild, Agnes Arens, Clara Thissen, Dorothy Martinek, and Madelyn Hutchens; and five brothers, Rudy, Raymond, Anthony, Bernard "Bud", and Raymond in infancy.
